Chief Blake has over 35 years of experience as a police officer, the last eight years as police chief with the cities of Harlingen (2000 – 2002) and Tomball (2002- 2008). His education includes both a Bachelor and Masters of Science from Abilene Christian University at Dallas. He will earn $90,000 a year as Kyle Chief of Police. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
Chief Blake became Kyle's Police Chief in January of 2008 and inherited a rapidly growing department that currently includes 18 sworn personnel, two reserve officers and nine civilian positions. The City Council approved six new police officer positions in the 2007 and 2008 budgets. These positions are currently in the process of being filled. |
