Third Annual Polar Bear Swim

Pool Open Free to the Public from 1:00pm - 3:00pm Monday, January 1st

Polar Bear Clubs began as a European tradition of saunas and cold-water bathing and was meant to keep Europe’s bathhouses busy. Today, the practice has expanded to a worldwide event where Polar Bear members meet to swim in chilly waters on New Year’s Day. The City of Kyle joined this tradition in 2005 with our own Polar Bear Club at the Kyle Pool.

On Monday, January 1st, 2007, The Kyle Pool will host the Third Annual Polar Bear Swim. To become a Polar Bear, you must register at the City of Kyle administrative offices at 100 W. Center Street before December 16th. Your $20 registration fee gets you a Polar Bear sweatshirt, your name on our club plaque at the Parks and Recreation office, a half-price coupon for a 2007 season pass to the Kyle Pool, and a raffle ticket for door prizes.

And the best part: YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO JUMP IN THE POOL TO JOIN THE CLUB!
