Kyle City Manager

 

Thomas L. Mattis has served as the first professional, full-time City Manager in the history of the City of Kyle since January, 2002. As City Manager, Mr. Mattis is responsible for managing all day-to-day operations of the City. He reports to and takes direction from the Kyle City Council, as a whole.

  Tom has been in the City Manager profession for over 23 years, having previously served as City Manager in five (5) different municipalities, three of those being  in Texas. He began his career as City Manager in Rosebud (Falls County), Texas in 1982. In 1985, he was appointed Budget Analyst for the City of Dallas. Tom was then appointed City Administrator of Pilot Point (Denton County), Texas; and was later appointed City Manager in Bonham (Fannin County), Texas in 1988. In 1991, Tom was appointed and served as the Municipal Administrator in Waterville, Ohio for ten years just prior to coming to Kyle; having achieved the longest tenure of any CEO serving the Village in the 50-year history of the position.

  Tom is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in his native Ohio, having received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1980. Tom and his native-Texan wife Mary Ann live in Kyle with daughter Lillian (who is a freshman and JV Cheerleader at Hays High School) and son Alex (who is a graduate of The Academy at Hays and is currently a freshman at the University of North Texas).
