City of Kyle Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to City of Kyle for the second consecutive year by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
In addition, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA) has also been awarded to the City of Kyle's Financial Services Department, as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR. Individuals comprising this department are:
- Perwez Moheet, CPA, Director of Finance
- Andy Alejandro, Senior Accountant
- Theresa Sanchez, Staff Accountant
“The City of Kyle places the highest priority on being fiscally responsible and completely transparent with the City’s finances,” said James R. Earp, Kyle Interim City Manager. “We continue to make great strides in improving how we handle our finances and a big part of that effort has been led by our Financial Services team.”
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
"This award should reassure our City Council and the citizens of Kyle that their City's accounting and financial management practices meet or exceeds governmental standards and regulatory requirements,” said Perwez Moheet, CPA, City of Kyle Director of Finance. “Our team is fully committed to complete transparency in the City's financial reporting. Once again, this award validates their confidence in the capabilities of our financial management team."
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
