The Kyle City Council has finalized a contract with Scott Sellers, currently the Kilgore city manager, to become the next city manager for the City of Kyle.

“Scott has a demonstrated history of being community oriented, creative and innovative,” said Kyle Mayor Todd Webster. “He has the knowledge, skills and experience that the council believes will be the catalyst that will take Kyle to the next level.”

Sellers became the city manager of Kilgore in October 2011. Prior to that he was the assistant city manager (August 2008 – June 2010) and acting city manager (June 2010 – October 2010) for the City of Montrose, Colorado.

"The City of Kyle is full of incredible opportunities and has a dynamic community that is supportive and active in their government and local businesses,” said Sellers. “Combining the support of the community with a capable and talented staff, as well as a forward-thinking city council, will be the key to the city's continued success and will take the city into the next era of positive growth."

Working with other agencies and local governments, as well as his successful history of implementing economic development strategies with an array of community and business partners, was a major determining factor in Sellers’ selection.

“We’ve seen that Scott can work with all levels of government as well as business leaders to reach mutually beneficial partnerships,” said Webster. “The City of Kyle is ready for a leader that will embrace our city and lead us forward as we continue our growth and maturity into a full service city.”

Sellers becomes the City of Kyle’s third full-time city manager. He brings with him his wife, Amy, and seven children. Sellers attended Brigham Young University where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in December 2002. He went on to complete a Masters of Public Administration – City Management in April 2006. Sellers is also an International City Manager’s Association (ICMA) Credentialed Manager and a Certified Public Manager.

The City of Kyle is located in Hays County just south of Austin, Texas. Kyle has been recognized as on of the fastest growing cities in Texas, growing from a population of approximately 5,000 residents in 2000, to its current estimated population of over 32,000.
