“We are so excited to be able to bring this amenity to our residents,” said Lucy Johnson, Mayor for the City of Kyle. “Our community is vastly underserved in the entertainment sector and this new business will go a long way to fill that gap.”
The City Council voted unanimously to enter into a development agreement with Schulman Partners, LLP., for the construction of the facility during a special called meeting on June 20th. The agreement includes incentives in the form of property tax and sales tax rebates as well as waivers for the City’s development fees. The total value of the incentives is estimated to be $1.1 million dollars over a 15 year period.
“The Economic Development Committee and City Council looked long and hard at these incentives,” said Johnson. “We also believe that this facility will serve as a venue and destination for people throughout Central Texas and will be a tremendous attraction to bring visitors into Kyle and Hays County. That being said, the City's development agreement is only one component in what we hope to be a joint economic incentive package with the County. We hope that the Commissioner's Court will support our economic development goals and participate in bringing in the largest indoor entertainment facility in Hays County's history."
Construction is expected to begin later this year and the facility could be open as soon as next summer.Preferences
