Born and raised in Kyle, Texas, Lucy Johnson believes strongly in being an active, helpful member of her community. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree from Parsons School of Design in 2006, Ms. Johnson moved back to Kyle to pursue a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Texas State University.
While taking courses at Texas State, Ms. Johnson became involved with the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Kyle's first transportation committee. In the summer of 2008, at the age of 24, Ms. Johnson ran for an at-large seat on the Kyle City Council and won. Since her election she has continued to give back to her community, serving as an officer in the Kyle Lion's Club, as the Chair of the Kyle Parks & Rec Committee, and representing her city as a member of the Capitol Area Council of Governments and the Capitol Area Regional Transportation Planning Organization.
In February of 2010 Ms. Johnson was elected Mayor. In addition to retaining her previous volunteer positions, Ms. Johnson now also proudly represents Kyle in the US Conference of Mayors and as a member of the YEO Network. She also enjoys regularly working with local non-profits such as Meals on Wheels, Hope & Love for Kids, Seton Hospital, CTMC Hospice, the Kyle VFW Post, United Way of Hays County, and the Katherine Anne Porter House. Outside of politics, Ms. Johnson works as a graphic designer.
