Civil Service Exam Notice-07/11/2014

Notice is hereby given that the Police Officers’ Civil Service Examination for the City of Kyle, Texas will be at 9:00 a.m. on the 11th day of July 2014, at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center, 979 Kohler’s Krossing, Kyle, Texas 78640 for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for the Civil Service position of Police Officer with the Kyle Police Department. This eligibility list will be in effect for a period of one year from August 10, 2014 or until the list has been exhausted, whichever occurs first. Candidates must complete an application through the City of Kyle’s website at: All required supporting documentation must be attached through the online application process or received in person by the Human Resources Department at 100 W. Center St., Kyle, TX  78640, or mailed to PO Box 40 Kyle, TX  78640 or faxed to 512-262-3987 to Attn:  Sandra Duran, Director of Human Resources/Civil Service by June 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. All qualified candidates will be required to pass a Physical Fitness Test scheduled on June 25, 2014 at 9 a.m. to be eligible to take the Civil Service Examination on July 11, 2014.


Minimum Qualifications Include:

-Applicants must be at least twenty-one years of age and not more than forty-four (44) years of age at the time of the testing date unless applicants have 10 years or more of service as a licensed peace officer from a law enforcement agency and if the applicant has not attained the age of 56 by the date the applicant submits a written application. Applicants must meet all other requirements of Section 143.023, Rules of the City of Kyle Police Officers’ Civil Service Commission.

-Be a high school graduate or equivalent and have at least one of the following:

  Completed 30 or more hours of college credit or an Associate’s Degree (C average or better);or

  Completed a minimum of two years of active duty in the United States Military Armed Forces with an Honorable discharge; or Hold a valid TCOLE peace officer license. 

-If applicant does not hold a valid TCOLE peace officer license, the applicant must be eligible to be licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (T.C.O.L.E.).

-Candidates must comply with all other Civil Service requirements and regulations.
