Computer classes are intended for adults and young adults over 14 years of age. We ask that parents not bring young children to class and that participants are on time.

Classes are free and there is no registration required but class size will be limited to the first 20 people who arrive. We offer computer classes in the Fall and in the Spring.

Come and learn about the great databases available for free through the Kyle Library Website. Library databases can be used for research, job search assistance, practice tests, and much more!

Participants will learn how use the digital library catalog, view and use their personal account, and download e-books and e-audiobooks. *Please bring personal e-reader or tablet for specialized assistance in downloading materials


Get to Know Your Computer

Computer Basics (1.5 hours)

October 13th at 10:30 a.m.

This class is designed to work with specific requests of participants. Topics will include learning and navigating the basic desktop, using a mouse and keyboard, and gaining familiarity with the components of a computer and its functions.

Aprenda todo acerca de las computadoras, como funcionan y como usarlas.  En esta clase aprenderá como funciona el “ratón” (mouse), internet básico y como crear una cuenta de correo electrónico.


Get to know Microsoft Software

Microsoft Word (1 hour)

September 29th at 10:30 a.m.
October 27th at 10:30 a.m.

We will focus on navigating the desktop interface for Microsoft Word and learn to create, save, edit, and print a document and use some of the cool tools available in Microsoft Word.
Prerequisites: Computer Basics or similar ability

Microsoft Excel (1 hour)

September 14th at 4:30 p.m.
October 5th at 4:30 p.m.
November 2nd at 4:30 p.m.

Examine the uses of spreadsheets, build tables, and create charts using some of the basic tools and functions of Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft PowerPoint (1 hour)

October 19th at 4:30 p.m.

We will introduce you to Microsoft PowerPoint where you will learn how to create a presentation using text, pictures, video, music, and slide show settings.

Family Internet Safety

September 28th at 4:30 p.m.

Want to stay safe online? We will
discuss the latest tips and ways to keep you and your children safe. This class is for all ages.

Discover the World of Social Media
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Internet Etiquette

November 9th at 4:30 p.m.

We will discuss setting up accounts, how to navigate the different websites, and the concepts of Internet etiquette.
