John Houck (Course Designer) and Arthur Zamarripa (Park Foreman)
begin to lay out the Steeplechase Park Disc Golf Course
The City of Kyle and Steeplechase Park has an 18 hole, double tee-box, disc golf course. John Houck, a two-time world champion, is personally laying out the course. Plum Creek criss-crosses the course and will challenge any level of player. The tee boxes will be constructed with pervious concrete. In Fact, this course will be the first course ever to use pervious concrete for tee boxes. There will be an ametuer and a professional tee box for each hole. Each hole will have 2 basket sleeves to keep the grounds in good shape.
The first rounds were played in February, 2006 and weekly mini's are played Wednesday afternoons.
There is also a "Driving Range" with pervious concrete surface to help warm you up and practice your game. Distances range between 100* feet to 400* feet to test your distance and accuracy.
(*measured from front-center point of concrete surface)
Also, this course offers you two "Practice Holes" to work on your short game and putting skills. Stategically placed, each practice basket has three rings around them at distances of 15 feet, 25 feet and 40 feet.
You won't find another Disc Golf Course anywhere that provides the challenges, design, construction and amenities as Steeplechase.
Come out and practice, play and enjoy the course.
Caution: Poison Ivy currently on portions of course. Until Poison Ivy can be treated and under control, caution is highly advised.
Enjoy the course
