The City of Kyle has annexed several areas adjacent to the current city limits.
On April 19, 2016, Kyle City Council approved the annexation of 529 acres to add to the city limits. Reduced from approximately 1500 acres, the properties annexed include the area north of Opal Lane and the area on the west side of Goforth Rd south of Bebee Rd. In addition, 15 property owners signed development agreements that keep them in the City's ETJ unless development occurs on the property.
On May 3, 2016, the City also annexed approximately 6500 acres by petition of the land owners.

There have been a number of ‘frequently asked questions’ and similar inquiries from residents with existing agriculture exemptions who have received a draft development agreement that will exempt them from the terms of full annexation this coming April. In response to these requests, the City of Kyle has revised the initial draft document to include some of the most-often requested concessions. New, revised drafts have been mailed via U.S. Mail to all exempt property owners.
