Kyle City Council unanimously approved the city’s budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22 at a special called meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021.

Budget Development Timeline FY2021-2022: 

• Saturday and Sunday, April 17 & April 18 - City Council's annual Visioning Workshop.
• Monday, April 19 - Based on City Council's Visioning Workshop, city manager shares goals, expectations, and budget guidelines with the department directors.
• ​Monday, April 26 - Deadline for Department Directors to submit new budget requirements for positions, support costs, CIP, vehicles, and equipment in preparation for Council Budget Worksession #1 on May 1, 2021.
• Friday, April 30 - Chief Appraiser (HaysCAD) provides certified preliminary estimates for property valuations to City. 
• Saturday, May 1 - Council Budget Worksession #1 (Special Called City Council Meeting)  
  • City manager and department directors present "new" budget needs to City Council. City Council provides feedback, project priorities, and direction to city manager for the development of the City's FY 2021-2022 Proposed Operating and CIP Budgets.  
• Friday, May 28 - Deadline for Department Directors to submit proposed FY 2021-2022 line item budgets for Council Budget Work session #2 on June 26, 2021.
• Monday, June 7 thru Wednesday, June 9 - Department Directors Meet with City Manager to review and finalize CYE's, Proposed Line Item Budgets, CIP Spending Plan and Revenue Projections
• Saturday, June 26 - Council Budget Worksession #2 (Special Called City Council Meeting) VIDEO 
  • City manager and department directors present "preliminary" proposed Operating and CIP Budgets to City Council. City Council provides feedback and direction to city manager for final changes to the city's proposed budget for FY 2021-2022. 
• Sunday, July 25 - Deadline for Chief Appraiser (HaysCAD) to provide Certified Property Tax Valuations to City. 
• Wednesday, July 28 - City Manager sends proposed line item budget and CIP spending plan to City Council. 
• Saturday, July 31 - Budget Worksession #3 (Special Called City Council Meeting) VIDEO 
  • City Manager presents proposed budget for FY 2021-2022 to City Council 
• Tuesday, Aug. 17 - Budget Worksession #4 (Regular City Council Meeting) VIDEO
