The project includes numerous safety improvements such as:

  • Upgrading all culvert crossings to desirable County standards
  • Adding traffic signals at Bebee Road and Windy Hill Road
  • Adding shoulders
  • Improving horizontal /vertical roadway geometry
  • Adding limited sidewalks at the southern and northern ends near Chapa and McCormick Middle Schools

Along with improvements along Dacy Lane, the intersection at Windy Hill Road will be widened to provide left turns onto Dacy Lane. A new two-lane roadway (named Lois Lane) will also be constructed between Marsh Lane in the Shadow Creek Subdivision to Dacy Lane.

The project is funded through the Hays 2016 Road Bond and is being carried out by Hays County.

Road work begins March 22nd, 2021 and is projected to be completed fall 2023.

Hays County Update as of 11/15/22:

Hays County would like to make residents aware of an upcoming traffic switch that will impact areas on Dacy Lane.

Starting on November 15, 2022, crews will be on site striping the new pavement on Dacy Lane from Kelly Smith to Hillside Terrance. Traffic will be shifted from existing Dacy Lane onto the new pavement in this location. One way traffic control with signals will be implemented for around 8-12 weeks (weather pending) to complete the construction of the box culvert.

Dacy Lane will remain closed to thru traffic from Windy Hill to Kelly Smith and traffic should continue to the detour signage that is in place.

Hays County Update as of 10/11/22:

A road closure is in place on Dacy Lane between Windy Hill Road and Kelly Smith Lane as part of the ongoing Dacy Lane improvements project. The closure is needed to facilitate the reconstruction of the existing Dacy Lane roadway in this location.

The contractor will maintain continuous access for local traffic to residences and businesses on this portion of Dacy Lane from Hillside Terrace (north of Windy Hill Road). Travelers in the area should allow additional time to navigate the new route.

Proper signage is in place along the detour route to help travelers navigate the alternate route to arrive at their destinations. Electronic message boards are set up to provide notification to the public for this road closure and detour.

This portion of the project will be active for the next several months and possibly into early 2023.

Hays County Update as of 8/12/22:

New light installed. Will be in service starting Aug 12.

Hays County Update as of 8/16/23:

Hays County’s Contractor, Jordan Foster continues to make progress on the project. The section of Dacy Lane from Hillside Terrace to Windy Hill Road and the New Lois Lane connection to Ralph Pfluger Elementary School have been paved and are open to traffic.

The sections currently have temporary pavement markers.  The Contractor is scheduled to complete paved driveways in this section of Dacy Lane and the permanent striping in late August.  The driveway paving and striping may cause minor delays.  We ask that you exercise additional caution in the 3-lane section while construction work is completed.

Dacy Lane will remain closed to through-traffic from Windy Hill Road to Amberwood Loop.  Traffic should continue to follow the detour route that is currently in place.  Access to all driveways and side streets will be maintained at all times. This section is to be completed late this Fall 2023.  (See map).

Dacy Lane from Amberwood Loop to Bebee Road is open to the public.
