Hays County will be closing Old Post Road for reconstruction and to improve drainage in the area beginning March 2021.
The closures will be done in two phases but properties along Old Post Road will remain accessible throughout the construction.
Phase One will close Old Post Road from FM 158 to Enterprise. *Complete
Phase 2 will close Old Post Road from FM 150 to Enterprise. *Complete
Traffic during both phases will be detoured using FM 150, Drue Drive, FM 158 and the I-35 Northbound Frontage Road.
Completion for Phase 2 is estimated for late Summer 2022. All construction is weather permitting.

Starting Monday, August 7, there will be intermittent lane closures on Old Post Road From FM 150 to County Road 158 for street improvements, weather permitting.
The work being performed will consist of an asphalt overlay. Work hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the City of Kyle will return the next workday or when good weather permits.
All residents along the affected stretch of road are asked to park vehicles in your driveway and not in the street while work is being performed. Please plan accordingly. Drivers are asked to obey traffic warning signs, detours and watch out for heavy equipment and flaggers. At times, the driving surface may be rough.
Status Updates
As of 8/16/23:
The Old Post Rd paving project is still underway and is more than 75% complete. The project is estimated to be completed by 8/21. Citizens should be aware of periodic road closures and detours during the project and signage has been posted to notify drivers of the traffic pattern changes.

As of 5/25/23: Hays County recently completed its portion of Old Post Road. City of Kyle Public Works will soon begin placing the final lift of hot mix on the road.
