Status Updates

Update 10/28/22:

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, TxDOT will close the northbound Interstate-35 exit for FM 1626/Kyle Parkway (Exit 216) to complete paving along the frontage road. The ramp and frontage road will be open for traffic before Monday morning rush hour.

During the ramp closure, northbound I-35 mainlane traffic headed for FM 1626/Kyle Parkway will need to take the RM 150 exit ramp (Exit 213), drive through the RM 150 intersection  to access FM 1626/Kyle Parkway.

This is a part of TxDOT's I-35 Frontage Road Improvements project to reverse the northbound I-35 entrance and exit ramps, reconstruct the northbound I-35 frontage road, add new extended entrance and exit lanes between RM 150 and Kyle Crossing and construct a new frontage road bridge over Plum Creek.

TxDOT asks drivers to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone. All construction is weather permitting.

Update 10/7/22:

Starting Friday, Oct. 14 and going through Sunday, Oct. 16, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close the existing northbound Interstate 35 on-ramp that is just south of FM 1626 (Kyle Crossing) in order to open the new on-ramp.

Traffic going north will need to use the northbound I-35 frontage road to travel through the Kyle Parkway/FM 1626 intersection and enter the mainlanes at the next available on-ramp. On Monday, Oct. 17, TxDOT will open the new, permanent on-ramp.

This is a part of TxDOT's IH-35 Frontage Road Improvements project to reverse the northbound I-35 entrance and exit ramps, reconstruct the northbound I-35 frontage road, add new extended entrance and exit lanes between RM 150 and Kyle Crossing and construct a new frontage road bridge over Plum Creek.

Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 25, there will be an intermittent lane closure on the northbound I-35 frontage between FM 150 and Kyle Crossing so TxDOT crews can complete the ramp reversal project. Work hours will be from 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

TxDOT asks drivers to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone. All construction is weather permitting.

Update 4/25/22:

Starting Monday, April 25, the Texas Department of Transportation will close the existing northbound I-35 entrance ramp, south of Plum Creek. Traffic will use the northbound I-35 frontage road to travel through the Kyle Parkway/FM 1626 intersection and enter the mainlanes at the next available entrance ramp. A new entrance ramp will be constructed south of Kyle Parkway and will open in the coming weeks, weather permitting.

This improvement is a part of TxDOT's IH-35 Frontage Road Improvements project to reverse the northbound I-35 entrance and exit ramps, reconstruct the northbound I-35 frontage road, add new extended entrance and exit lanes between RM 150 and Kyle Crossing and construct a new frontage road bridge over Plum Creek. This project is expected to be complete in mid-2022.
