Kyle City offices closed

Due to forecasted inclement weather, City of Kyle offices and facilities, including Kyle City Hall, Public Library, and Utility Billing Office, will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 4th. City services will still be available via phone at 512-262-1010 and online at www.cityofkyle.com.

The National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio has placed Kyle under a Winter Storm Warning from 3 a.m. going through 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3. Please take steps to make sure your family and home are prepared for prolonged freezing temperatures and the many challenges — power failures, frozen pipes, closed roads, etc. — that it can bring.

  • Review your emergency plans and supplies.
  • Wrap exposed faucets & pipes.
  • Bring pets indoors & prepare outdoor livestock/animals for freezing conditions.
  • Bring in potted plants & cover outdoor plants.
  • Drip faucets when temps fall below freezing, 5 drips per minute, not a stream.
  • Keep your cellphone or other communication devices charged in case of loss of power.
  • Stay tuned to local authorities, radio and television stations for updates. All City of Kyle updates will be posted on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Sign up for WarnCentralTexas.org to receive accurate & timely local alerts.

Travel is not recommended unless it is an emergency, but if travel is necessary, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Check current road conditions and closures at drivetexas.org before you leave the house.
  • Use extra caution on bridges, ramps, overpasses & shaded areas as they tend to freeze first.
  • Slow down & maintain at least three times the normal following distance on snow or ice.

Team Kyle is busy getting ready for the winter storm headed our way and the Public Works Department has been hard at work loading trucks with sand for the roadways, testing and topping off all generators with fuel and an anti-gelling agent in efforts to ensure continuous water supply, fueling and prepping all trucks and equipment, and coordinating on-call crews with additional layers of staff prepared for call-out.

Due to the winter weather and travel impacts of freezing rain and sleet, the City of Kyle has decided to postpone the Dialogue for Peace and Progress 2022 – Celebrating Black History Month until a later date. We will update with more information as soon as possible. Stay safe and warm Kyle! For more information, go to CityofKyle.com/Dialogue.
