The Brick and Mortar District is partially funded through the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) #2, that was established in 2018. The City of Kyle approved a Strategic Framework Plan to guide funding decisions within the district in 2020 and identified a central park and trail as a priority.

On July 15, 2021, the City of Kyle hosted a groundbreaking celebration for La Verde Park and officially cut the ribbon for the park on Nov. 18, 2023.

La Verde Park and Cultural Trail is being made possible through partnerships with Momark Development, Lionheart, Overland Partners, Kimley Horn, and Water Design, with leadership and direction of Kyle City Council and Kyle TIRZ #2 Board members.
