Special Olympics Texas - Bocce

Join the Kyle Knighthawks for our 1st season of Bocce with Special Olympics Texas (SOTX)!

Practice Schedule:

  • Mondays and Thursdays from 9 AM – 10 AM starting June 17 going through  Aug. 12.
  • Starting Aug. 15, practices will move to 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM, due to school starting.
  • Practice will be held the week of the competition on Aug. 19 and 22 from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM.
  • Practice will NOT be held week of July 1, July 8 or July 15.

Competition Details:

  • Date: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024
  • Time: To be announced at later date
  • Location: McNeil High School, 5720 McNeil Dr, Austin, TX
  • Participation in the competition is highly encouraged for all athletes.
  • All athletes are required to provide their own transportation to the competition.
  • All athletes must have a current Special Olympics medical on file to participate in the competition.
  • There will be a mandatory parent and athlete meeting on Wednesday, June 12 from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the Lake Kyle Pavilion, 700 Lehman Road.

Program Eligibility:

All participants must meet the below criteria to ensure that participants can fully engage and benefit from the services offered. Eligibility criteria helps to maintain appropriate group dynamics, ensure the safety of all participants, and facilitate the successful delivery of program services.

  1. Ability to function independently or with minimal support in a group setting during program hours.
  2. Demonstrate socially acceptable behaviors, including respect for self and others, and adherence to program guidelines.
  3. Independence in essential self-care tasks such as feeding and bathroom needs.
  4. Participants requiring additional support with medications, bathroom needs, and feeding may attend with an attendant or caregiver.

  • Regular Open: Monday, May 6, 2024 - Monday, June 10, 2024
  • Registration Cost: FREE
