Zoning Ordinance Updates Public Workshop

Planng and Zoning Commission to host Public Workshop June 18th @ 6:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers
to Discuss Zoning Ordinance Updates

The Planning and Zoning Commission will be hosting the first in a series of public workshops to discuss updates to the City of Kyle Zoning Ordinance. At this Monday’s workshop staff will review two new proposed zoning designations to be added to the zoning ordinance. These new designation are Neighborhood Commercial and Community Commercial.

The City of Kyle currently has one commercial zoning designation, outside of the central business district. The addition of a neighborhood commercial zoning designation and a community commercial zoning designation, to the City Code, will give the city a new tool in its tool box in attracting new commercial development while providing for an appropriate transition in and out of a residential neighborhood.

The purpose of the new zoning designations is to provide for a zoning district that allows for various types of small scale, limited impact commercial, retail, personal services, and office uses located in close proximity to their primary customers.

To view the proposed ordinances please go to http://www.cityofkyle.com/planning . If you are unable to attend please email comments or questions to planning@cityofkyle.com or call the Planning Department at 512.262.3925.

The workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 18th in the City Council Chambers. Planning Department staff will be present to go over and answer questions regarding the proposed zoning designations and the development standards associated with each.
