How You Can Help Flood Victims

A system has been put in place for volunteer organizations who want to offer assistance to Hays County flood and storm victims, and for companies and individuals who would like to donate the use of equipment for use in disaster relief.

Those organizations and companies should email hayscoflood@hays.co.tx.us and give the following information in their email:

Name of company/organization, point of contact name, email and phone number, and a detailed list of the equipment that you are offering, or if you are a volunteer organization, the number of people and their specialties/abilities. That information will be forwarded to an administrator who will contact you if your resources can be of assistance now or in the future.

Volunteer Opportunities, Volunteer Centers are open San Marcos and Wimberley,

  • Wimberley Volunteer Reception Service, Cypress Creek Church, 211 Stillwater, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • SM Volunteer Center (512.753.2320) San Marcos Plaza Park, 206 C.M.Allen Parkway, 8 a.m. - 5 pm Coordinated by City of San Marcos,
  • Hays County, and AmeriCorps: The City and County have hundreds of people and organizations actively volunteering—we ask them to coordinate through our Volunteer Reception Centers so that their efforts may be as effective as possible. City, County and AmeriCorps are coordinating volunteers and organizations. Shelter Update City of San Marcos Shelter at the Activity Center is still open and housing 53 displaced individuals. Call Center A Call Center has been set up in San Marcos for disaster-related questions at 512-754-2275 

Individuals wishing to make monetary donations to Hays County to assist with the May 2015 flood may do so at this time.

Donations can be made payable to the Hays County Treasurer, 712 South Stagecoach Trail, Suite 1094, San Marcos, Texas. Any funds sent in the mail should be by check or money order. Donors need to note "May 2015 Flood" on their checks or money order and please provide their Name, Address and Phone Number. Cash and/or check donations to Hays County may be made in person at the Hays County Treasurer’s Office located in Suite 1094 of the Government Center, 712 South Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos.

Sage Capital Bank is also accepting monetary donations on behalf of Hays County at 2201 Hunter Road, San Marcos. "May 2015 Flood" needs to be noted on all payments as well as the donor’s name address and phone number.

Please do not take equipment or goods to these locations. These locations are for monetary donations only. Credit Card payments will not be accepted at this time. Hays County is working to provide an avenue for credit card payments on our website. This has not yet been established. Future updates will be provided regarding credit card payments.

The Hays County Commissioner’s Court will determine the distribution of the funds collected. Donations designated for specific families or persons will not be accepted through Hays County. Donors wanting to donate to someone specifically should make contributions to directly to those individuals.
