KYLE, TEXAS – The City of Kyle Arts and Cultural Commission is excited to announce that during the month of May various pieces of art done by local artist Anna Martinez Boling will be on display at Kyle City Hall to celebrate Hispanic Heritage for Cinco de Mayo.

The Kyle Arts and Cultural Commission is excited to spotlight Boling’s work. Boling is an artist, attorney and serial volunteer living in Kyle. She started her art career as a sign artist in her twenties and worked in the sign industry when everything was done by hand. After 11 years of night school and two years as a full-time student, she finished her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design at Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State, graduating cum laude in 1990. Boling then put herself through law school at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, graduating in 1994. After almost 30 years of practicing law, Boling is transitioning back into the art world by opening The Boling Gallery in Kyle on the family property on S. Stagecoach Rd., while still maintaining a small law practice.

Boling has never stopped painting and creating since she stopped painting signs. Many of her family members and friends own an Anna Boling original painting or piece of jewelry handcrafted by her. People can see her murals at the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and at the Boling Gallery grounds.  Boling recently finished a commissioned piece, “La Jueza,” for Judge Daniella Deseta Lyttle, Judge of the 261st Judicial District Court in Travis County.

City of Kyle residents are invited to view the art at Kyle City Hall Monday through Friday, May 1-31 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The art exhibition can also be accessed on certain Saturdays in the month of May due to other events at City Hall including Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. during the All Aboard! Railroad Depot Painting Event taking place at the Kyle Railroad Depot and Heritage Center, 100 N. Front St.

Emerging art into the public space of Kyle is one of the goals of the Arts and Cultural Commission. The Commission hopes the citizens and visitors to Kyle can make it out to view the beautiful artwork exhibition in Kyle City Hall.
