City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Board Now Accepting Applications

KYLE, TEXAS — The City of Kyle invites community members to apply for an open position on the Kyle Parks and Recreation Board. 

Members of the Kyle Parks and Recreation Board provide the Parks and Recreation Director with advice and recommendations on all policies, rules and regulations relating to public parks and recreation programs. The Board also functions in an advisory capacity to City Council and involves citizens in the process of planning, development and parks and recreation programs within the city. Board members are a vital and necessary component of developing programs and facilities, including the recommendation of a comprehensive plan that addresses the park and recreation needs as a whole.  

Board members may also be called to act as a public forum for citizens to address concerns over city parks and recreation activities. Additionally, they provide advisory oversight of public playgrounds, athletic fields, and other facilities and activities on property owned or controlled by the city.  

Requirements for the Kyle Parks and Recreation Board members include: 

  • Must be 18 years of age; 
  • Must be a citizen of Kyle, TX; 
  • Must be a resident of the State of Texas for at least 6 consecutive months; 
  • Must not be a delinquent or in debt to the city; 
  • Must not be a city employee 

Individuals chosen to serve on this 7-member board will hold two-year terms. Meetings are generally held on the last Monday of each month at Kyle City Hall or one of the parks. Board members are also required to complete Open Records training within the first 90 days of appointment. Members are appointed by the Council and serve without compensation.
