The Wall That Heals is a traveling exhibit honoring the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War. It bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. The exhibit includes a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and a mobile Education Center.

On Thursday, May 4 The Wall That Heals will open with an Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m. with opening remarks by veterans Stuart Hoyt, Jim Clements, and Lieutenant General Kenneth Eickmann, an Opening Prayer by Rev. Kenneth Bell, the singing of the National Anthem, reading the names of Vietnam casualties in Hays County, an Honor Guard Salute by Tejanos in Action, and the playing of Taps.

The Wall That Heals will be on display 24 hours a day in Kyle May 4-7, during that time anyone is able to view the exhibit, and take pictures or etchings of Veterans memorialized, and visit the mobile Education Center. It is made possible by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.

On Sunday, May 7, The Wall That Heals will close to the public at 2 p.m. A Closing Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. with closing remarks by veterans Stuart Hoyt and Hays County Veteran Services Officer Jude Prather, a Closing Prayer by Rev. Kenneth Bell, an Honor Guard Salute by Tejanos in Action, and the playing of Taps.

Representatives from The Wall That Heals Kyle Committee and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial fund will be available for media interviews at Lake Kyle Park after 12 p.m. To schedule an interview, contact the City of Kyle Communications Department at communicationsdept@cityofkyle.com.

Kyle is only one of few communities chosen to display The Wall That Heals in 2023, the 50th anniversary of the close of the Vietnam War, and it will be the final stop in Texas before moving on to Great Bend, Kansas.
