KYLE, TEXAS –– Halloween is just around the corner and the City of Kyle is excited to announce our lineup of spooktacular events. From costume contests to trick-or-treating, free movie showings and a Halloween-themed dance, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.  

Halloween Movie in the Park: 

On Friday the 13th we’re celebrating the season with a showing of Casper (PG) on the big screen outdoors at the Halloween Movie in the Park hosted by the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department.  

The movie begins at sundown, approximately 7:15 p.m. at the Gregg-Clarke Park Basketball Courts, 1100 W. Center St. Arrive by 6:30 p.m. and dressed in your best Halloween costume for a chance to enter a raffle prize giveaway.

Kyle Center Street Trick or Treat: 

Bring the whole family to Mary Kyle Hartson City ‘Scare’ Park on Saturday, October 28 for the Kyle Center St. Trick or Treat from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. This family-friendly event is completely free and provides a safe opportunity for trick-or-treating from local businesses and organizations set up around the park. Free Halloween photos will be offered inside the Krug Activity Center. 

Come for the candy and stick around for the all-ages costume contests going on all afternoon. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the following age groups at the following times: 

  • Ages 0-5 years old / Start Time – 12:45 p.m. 
  • Ages 6-12 years old / Start Time – 1:15 p.m. 
  • Ages 13-18 years old / Start Time – 1:45 p.m. 
  • Ages 19 and up / Start Time - 2:15 p.m. 
  • Group of 2 or more / Start Time – 2:30 p.m.  

Food and drink vendors will also be on site as well as a few vendors that sell children’s items. The City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is still taking applications for vendors and businesses and organizations interested in setting up a booth along the treat trail. Halloween Boo-gie for People with Disabilities: 

The 2nd Annual Halloween Boo-gie Dance for People with Disabilities is scheduled for Friday, October 27 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Gemstone Palace, 1101 Bunton Creek Rd. 

This Halloween-themed dance party will feature a DJ, music, S.W.A.G bags, raffle prizes and fun. Registration is required to attend. Admission is free. To sign up, visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle

Be sure to register early. Due to occupancy limits, the number of participants will be capped to 300 people. Participants requiring assistance must be accompanied by a parent, caregiver, or any individual providing assistance. Both the participant and individual providing assistance must register and will be counted toward the total capacity number.

Teen Halloween Party: 

Head to the Kyle Public Library on All Hallows’ Eve, Tuesday, October 31, for a Halloween Party for teens and tweens starting at 6 p.m. Attendees are welcome to come in costume, grab some snacks and watch Edward Scissorhands (PG-13).

Halloween Photo Competitions: 

Take part in the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department’s Halloween-themed photo competitions. Now through November 1 send in a photo matching the four categories, Pet Costume Image Contest, Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Image Contest, Yard Decorating Image Contest, and Costume Image Contest (multiple age categories) for a chance to win a prize. 

The deadline for each contest is as follows: 

  • Pet Costume Image Contest – Submit Photos by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 
  • Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Image Contest – Submit Photos by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 
  • Yard Decorating Image Contest – Submit Photos by 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23 
  • Costume Image Contest – Submit Photos by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1
