Kyle Police Department

UPDATED JAN. 11, 2016 8:48 AM

Kyle Police are shutting down North Burleson from Spring Branch Drive to IH-35 West Frontage Road today (Jan. 11) from 10 a.m. until noon while they conduct follow up investigation from last Thursday night's fatality.

KPD will also be closing down a lane or two of the I-35 Frontage Road, but traffic will be allowed through in the left hand lane. These closures are not expected to cause major traffic delays.

DETOURS: Those who normally take North Burleson to IH-35 will have to detour to Center Street or FM 1626 to reach IH-35. Those who use the frontage road to turn right on North Burleson will need to detour around through Center Street or FM 1626.

The City of Kyle appreciate everyone's patience as our police department completes its investigation.

Original release:

KPD responded to a three-car crash last Thursday. Steve Vasquez, 33, of Kyle was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Stephanie Vasquez, 34, also of Kyle, was transported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin with serious injuries, according to Stephanie Vasquez's family.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, on the southbound I-35 access road at Burleson Road. Kyle police closed off the access road at City Lights Rd. and detoured traffic for several hours while they conducted their investigation of the crash.

What is known at this time is a 2013 grey Dodge Avenger driven by Jarred Brady Farmer, 22, of Buda, was traveling on the southbound access road of I-35 when it hit a grey 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by Hallie Seabolt, 40, of Kyle, that was turning onto Burleson Rd. The Avenger then continued on to hit a third vehicle.

That vehicle, a 2003 Lexus IS 300, was at the stop sign waiting to turn right onto the access road. The occupants were driver Steve Vasquez and passenger Stephanie Vasquez.

Farmer was transferred to Brackenridge with unspecified Injuries. The driver of the Corolla is reported to be uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation. The Kyle Police Department plans to temporarily close the same portion of the roadway early next week to further the investigation. No charges have been filed.

When additional information is available, the city of Kyle will provide an update.

NOTE: An earlier release that said the second vehicle hit the third vehicle. In fact, it was the Avenger driven by Farmer that hit the Lexus.
