Kyle Police Department and Texas Water Utilities Host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Site

KYLE, TEXAS –– The Kyle Police Department and Texas Water Utilities, which provides water service to many Kyle residents, will continue their partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to provide a medication disposal site on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Kyle residents and neighbors are invited to attend on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kyle Public Safety Center and Police Department located at 1700 Kohlers Crossing.

Prescription drugs disposed of improperly through flushing or drains can affect the chemical balance of the drinking water supply and pollute our waterways with antibiotics, hormones, and other drugs that negatively impact aquatic life. The take back program encourages people to properly dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications to help protect our environment.

Participants can safely dispose of controlled and uncontrolled substances, over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, creams, non-aerosol sprays, vials and pet medications. Used needles and other sharps will not be accepted. All accepted medications will be properly destroyed.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides an opportunity for communities to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths by ensuring that prescription drugs are not misused and do not end up in the wrong hands. Earlier this year, Kyle residents properly disposed of 115 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications at the drug collection site.
