KYLE, TEXAS – The Kyle Public Library in Kyle, Texas has received the 2022 Achievement of Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA), an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League.

“The Kyle Public Library is very honored to receive this award for the 7th year in a row. It is a testament to the hard work, creativity, dedication, and perseverance of the staff for putting the service of our patrons first no matter what the circumstances. I would like to recognize our wonderful staff who have continued the mission of the library, to serve the community as a resource for informational, educational, recreational and cultural enrichment,” Library Director Colleen Tierney said. “I hold this group of professionals in very high regard as they have proven that they are up to the challenge of continuing to serve our diverse community as we grow and move forward further into the 21st century.”

To successfully receive the Achievement of Library Excellence Award, applicants must exhibit excellence by providing services to underserved and special populations; marketing in innovative ways; pursuing collaborative efforts; continually enhancing its services; supporting literacy, digital inclusion, and workforce development; providing cultural, topical, and educational programming; and comprehensively training its staff.

The Kyle Public Library demonstrated distinction with its many programs and services including its summer reading program for all ages, partnerships with preschools, K-12, and post-secondary schools, its digital literacy promotion, and convenient access to books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, technology, information services, and quality programming available to patrons of all ages and background.

Of the 542 public libraries in Texas, only 73 received this award in 2022.
