Music Lineup Announced for 2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival

KYLE, TEXAS –– The City of Kyle is excited to announce the live music lineup for the 2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival happening Friday, Sept. 1 and Saturday, Sept. 2 at Lake Kyle Park, 700 Lehman Road. 

Along with live music, the 2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival will include a mini carnival, tethered hot air balloon rides, hot air balloon glows, a vendor market, food and drinks, a Tiny Tot PIEathalon for kids, a pie-eating contest, a Pi Recital Contest, fireworks and more!   

Entry to the festival is $10 per day, or $15 for the whole festival. Youth ages 17 and under are free and adults 55+ are $5 a day. Tickets may be purchased online for the same cost but may include processing fees. The entry fee does not include tethered hot-air balloon rides, mini carnival rides or any vendor costs. 

Live music performances begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1 with Guy Forsyth and the Texas Horns, an Austin-based musician, singer, storyteller and songwriter who has played around the world, and was named Austin’s Male Vocalist of the Year in 2005. At 8 p.m. Latin-rock band Del Castillo will perform. The cross-cultural band was formed in 2000 and is led by brothers Mark and Rick del Castillo. Since then, Del Castillo has won numerous accolades, performed alongside Willie Nelson, Los Lonely Boys and Styx to name a few, and had their song “Dias de Los Angeles” featured in the Robert Rodriguez film “Once Upon a Time in Mexico.”  

Texas born country singer, songwriter Roger Creager will headline Friday night, performing at 9:30 p.m. Creager has released seven albums, five of them making the U.S. Country Top 100 lists and he is known for his charisma and high-energy shows.  

On Saturday, Sept. 2, live music performances begin at 3 p.m. with San Antonio-born Tejano artist Destiny Navaira featuring Raulito. At 4:30 p.m. the five-member, all-female Houston-based Tejano group Las Fenix takes the stage. They will be followed by Grammy-award-winning Conjunto band Los Texmaniacs featuring Grammy-award-winning accordionist Flaco Jimenez at 6 p.m. 

At 8 p.m., Tejano singer-songwriter and recipient of the 1999 Tejano Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award Ram Herrera takes the stage. At the end of Herrera’s set, a fireworks show will take place at Lake Kyle Park, teeing up the headlining act, Grammy-award-winning Tejano band Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution. The band has been performing together since 1969 and was inducted into the Pura Vida Hall of Fame in 1998.

Friday, September 1: 

  • 5:30-7 p.m. - Guy Forsyth and the Texas Horns
  • 8-9 p.m. - Del Castillo 
  • 9:30-10:30 p.m - Roger Creager 

Saturday, September 2:  

  • 3-4 p.m. - Destiny Navaira featuring Raulito Navaira 
  • 4:30-5:30 p.m. - Las Fenix
