KYLE, TEXAS – A mural celebrating the history of Kyle will begin taking shape at the new Z’Tejas Southwest Grill, 18920 S. I-35 Frontage Rd., starting Monday, August 14.

The mural features a railway station, including a train, the city’s iconic water tower, a Texas flag and two longhorns featuring historic brands from the Michaelis and Groos families, two historic cattle ranchers associated with the beginnings of Kyle, TX.

The mural will be done by Isaac Caruso, a 34-year-old artist and creative director from Phoenix, Arizona. In his bio, Caruso states, “I treat the act of painting murals as a performance piece by showing my love for the neighborhood and I strive to involve the community as much as possible in my process.” For a look at Caruso’s other work, visit IsaacNCaruso.com/

Caruso will arrive in Kyle on Sunday, August 13 to begin prepping the piece. Work will begin Monday, August 14 and continue through its likely completion date on Monday, August 21.

Members of the community are welcome to stop by the new Z’Tejas location to see the mural in progress. Members of the media are also welcome to visit the mural in progress and take video and pictures. Media interested in setting up an interview are encouraged to contact the City of Kyle Communications Department at communicationsdept@cityofkyle.com

Additionally, “The Last Zupper” mural painted by Texas Artist and Comedian Kerry Awn at the Z’Tejas previously located on West 6th St. in Austin, TX., has been preserved and will be relocated to the Kyle location.

Z’Tejas will offer the City of Kyle an upscale dining experience with its chef-driven menu showcasing dishes inspired by the Southwest and Mexico, featuring a sleek, modern design with an open dining room and a large bar as the focal point.

The restaurant and the City of Kyle Economic Development team look forward to announcing a date for their grand opening and 35th Birthday Celebration soon.
