Proclamation Acknowledging the Efforts of the Kyle/Buda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

WHEREAS, in 2022 the City of Kyle has hosted a number of community events and experienced several emergencies requiring support of our first responders; and

WHEREAS, special events have frequent need for assistance in the areas of mass care, first aid, sheltering, and vigilant community members; and

WHEREAS, the Kyle/Buda CERT is comprised exclusively of volunteers from our communities with specific training in first aid, mass care, and sheltering, traffic and crowd management; and

WHEREAS, the CERT’s service includes involvement with the AMVET’s March, Healthy Kids Series, Wiener Dog Races, Veteran’s Parade, 4th of July Festivities, Kyle FD’s 5K Benefit Run, the Papa Jacks Fire, Juneteenth Celebration, and providing assistance to the upcoming Hero’s Memorial Ribbon Cutting and Founder’s Day Parage, as well as providing free CERT training to the public, and offering community information and Q&A sessions; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kyle has implemented an Emergency Management Program this year; and

WHEREAS, the CERT has been highly proactive in becoming involved in planned and unplanned events in collaboration with the fledgling Office of Emergency Management.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the City Council of the City of Kyle expresses its acknowledgement and appreciation of the effort of our community volunteers to the regular function and continued assistance of the CERT.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Kyle has hereunto subscribed their names and have caused the Official Seal of the City of Kyle to be hereunto affixed in the City of Kyle this 6th day of September, 2022.
