2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival Getting Ready to Take Flight at Lake Kyle Park

KYLE, TEXAS –– The 2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival returns to Lake Kyle Park, 700 Lehman Rd., for a two-day festival over Labor Day weekend at no admission cost. 

Join us for every flavor of fun imaginable at this two-day family-friendly event that includes live music performances, a mini carnival, tethered hot air balloon rides and hot air balloon glows and mass ascensions, if the weather allows, a vendor market, including food, pie baking and eating contests, a drone show and more. 

Tickets and Pricing: 

There is no cost of admission for this year’s Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival. Individuals that have already purchased a ticket online will receive a refund including the processing fee.  

Tethered hot-air balloon rides, mini carnival rides food and vendor pricing vary.  

Entertainment: 

This year, the Pie in the Sky Festival will feature a drone show at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 2. Fireworks were previously announced, but due to extremely dry conditions and threat of wildfires the fireworks show was replaced with a drone show.  

Two nights of live music kick off Friday, September 1 with performances starting at 5:30 p.m. Texas-born country singer, songwriter Roger Creager will headline Friday, taking the stage at 9:30 p.m. On Saturday, September 2 fairgoers can enjoy a full day of Conjunto and Tejano music beginning at 4 p.m. That night, Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution will close out the festival with their performance at 9:30 p.m. 

Attendees can also enjoy the mesmerizing sight of hot air balloons taking flight high over Lake Kyle with hot air balloon glows, a mass ascension and tethered rides, if the weather allows. For a full schedule of music and hot air balloon related activities, visit PieintheSky.com.  

Events & Competitions: 

This year’s festival will include several competitions for community members to take part in, including a cornhole tournament, adult and kid pie eating contest, a savory and sweet pie baking contest, and a Pi recital contest.  

Pre-registration is required for the cornhole tournament on Friday, September 1.. To register, visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle.  

Individuals wanting to take part in the adult and kid pie eating contests and the pie recital contest on Saturday, September 2 can register at the Pie Tent the day of the event. For more information, visit PieintheSky.com. 

Transportation, Parking: 

Free Parking and Shuttles for the Pie in the Sky Festival will be available at Steeplechase Park, Lehman High School and Tobias Elementary. There will be limited ADA parking available at Lake Kyle Park, 700 Lehman Road, as well as at all shuttle locations. The free shuttles will run continuously during festival hours on Saturday, September 2 and will begin around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 1.

Just download the City of Kyle App, claim your voucher and take a trip to anywhere that begins and ends within Kyle City Limits for the small price of $3.14. City of Kyle residents can expect increased traffic on Lehman Rd. and the surrounding areas during the festival and are encouraged to seek alternative routes during festival hours.
