2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival Returns to Lake Kyle Park for Two-Day Festival

KYLE, TEXAS –– The City of Kyle is excited to announce the 2023 Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival will return to Lake Kyle Park for a two-day festival during Labor Day weekend.  

Join us Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2 for every flavor of fun imaginable including live music performances, a mini carnival, tethered hot air balloon rides, hot air balloon glow shows, a vendor market, including food, plenty of pie (of course), and fireworks.  

Entry tickets purchased on site are $10 per day, or $15 for the whole festival. Youth ages 17 and under are free. Adults 55+ are $5 a day. Tickets may be purchased online for the same cost but may include processing fees. The entry fee does not include tethered hot-air balloon rides, mini carnival rides or any other costs incurred once entry is gained.  The schedule for the festival (not including live music performances) is as follows: 

Friday, September 1 

  • 5pm - Gates Open - Tethered Rides and Entertainment all afternoon! 
  • 6:30-9:30pm - Pie in the Sky Corn Hole Tournament 
  • 7:30pm - Hot Air Balloon Glow 
  • 10:30pm - Gates Close 

Saturday, September 2 

  • 7am - Gates Open 
  • 7am - Hot Air Balloon Grand Ascension 
  • 7:30-10am - Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides 
  • 10am - Tiny Tot PIEathalon 
  • 12pm - Pie in the Face Contest 
  • 1pm - Pie Eating Contest, Pie Baking Contest 
  • 2pm - Pie Recital Contest 
  • 7:30-8:30pm - Hot Air Balloon Glow 
  • 7:30-10pm – Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides 
  • 9pm - Fireworks 
  • 10:30pm - Gates Close 

The live music performance schedule will be released later this month.

We are also taking applications for balloonists wanting to participate in the Hot Air Balloon portion of the festival. This festival offers a travel expense stipend, propane for all events and hotel accommodations for pilots living further than 30 miles away. This year we will also provide two rooms for each pilot so pilots can bring their own crew.
