Hays High School Employee Charged with Improper Relationship with Student, Child Grooming

KYLE, TEXAS –– Hays High School paraprofessional clerk Danielle Elizabeth Dunn, 32, was taken into custody at the Hays County Jail on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, following an investigation by the Kyle Police Department. 

On Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, Hays CISD received an allegation that Dunn had been involved in an improper relationship with a student. Hays CISD immediately reported the information to the Kyle Police Department for a criminal investigation and to Child Protective Services. Kyle Police Department detectives immediately launched an investigation into the allegations. 

After an exhaustive investigation by law enforcement officers, a warrant was issued for Dunn on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024. Dunn turned herself into the Hays County Jail on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024 and was charged with one count of Improper Relationship between an Educator and Student, a second-degree felony, and one count of Child Grooming, a third-degree felony. 

The Kyle Police Department Victim Services Unit is providing assistance to victims and their families. 

“We know these incidents are unsettling for our community, but we are working together with the school district during this difficult time to provide our students and affected families with the justice, care and support they deserve,” said Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett.

This investigation is ongoing. The Kyle Police Department is not available for interviews at this time.
