La Verde Park Mardi Gras Celebration

KYLE, TEXAS –– The City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is marking the month of February with the return of two arts programs, a Valentine’s Day Dance, and a little bit of lagniappe at the city’s newest park.   

La Verde Park Mardi Gras Celebration 

Celebrate Fat Tuesday at the first-ever Mardi Gras Celebration at La Verde Park, 3875 Burnham, on Tuesday, February 13, from 6-8 p.m.   

Come to Kyle’s newest park for a green, purple and gold celebration and enjoy King Cake, food and drink vendors, DJ music, and a Mardi Gras-themed costume contest. Beads and masks will be available until supplies last.

Valentine’s Day Dance for People with Disabilities 

Register today for the Valentine's Day Dance for People with Disabilities on Friday, February 16 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Gemstone Palace, 1101 Bunton Creek Rd. 

This Valentine’s Day-themed dance party will feature a DJ, music, S.W.A.G bags, raffle prizes and fun. Registration is required to attend. Admission is free. To sign up, visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle

Attendees are encouraged to register early. Due to occupancy limits, the number of participants is capped at 300 people. Participants who require assistance must be accompanied by a parent, caregiver, or any individual who provides assistance. Both the participant and individual providing the assistance must register and will be counted toward the total capacity number.

Parks and Recreation Arts Programs Return 

Popular City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department Art Programs Paint and Sip and Art in the Park returned earlier this month. Registration is already full for February, but residents can still sign up for March.  

Art in the Park is an all-ages program where participants complete an art project with the help of an instructor. Art in the Park takes place monthly on Saturdays, except in July, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at either the Krug Activity Center or Gazebo at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, 101 S. Paint and Sip is a 21+ arts program where our artist instructor will walk you step-by-step to complete a piece of artwork. All skill levels are welcome. BYOB for those 21+. Those under 21 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  

Paint and Sip takes place every month through November at the Krug Activity Center at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, 101 S. Burleson St. Registration and a fee is required to participate. The fee includes all necessary supplies and instructions. To register, visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle.  

Adult Sports League Registration 

Registration is now open for the Spring Adult Kickball, Adult Men’s and Coed Softball Leagues.  

Adult Coed Kickball is played on Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Gregg-Clarke Sports Complex. Teams are guaranteed 8 games per season plus a four-team playoff if they qualify. Teams must have a designated manager and can consist of up to 16 players. Registration and a fee of $325 is required to participate.  

The deadline to register for Adult Kickball is Friday, February 23. Games begin Friday, March 1. To sign up and learn more, visit cityofkyle.com/recreation/adult-kickball-league

Adult Coed Softball is played on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. and Adult Men’s Softball is played on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. Both leagues play at the Gregg-Clarke Sports Complex. Teams are guaranteed 8 games per season plus a four-team playoff if they qualify. Teams must have a designated manager.
