Live Music, Family Fun and More Market Days Highlight City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department’s Spring Season

Jams on the Green

KYLE, TEXAS –– Get outdoors this Spring with the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department’s lineup of new and tried and true events including the introduction of Jams on the Green at La Verde Park and the Inclusive Bike Rodeo and the return of Movies in the Park and Market Days.  

Jams on the Green 

Starting Thursday, May 2 the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department will kick off Jams on the Green at La Verde Park, 3901 Burnham, utilizing the new green space and amphitheater for a night of live music, food and drink vendors, and family fun.  

Jams on the Green is free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to sit on, lawn chairs are allowed, and enjoy live music and good vibes at Kyle’s newest park. Four Jams on the Green events are scheduled between May and September of 2024. Food and drink vendor applications and sponsor applications are currently being accepted. To apply and learn more Click Here.  

Inclusive Bike Rodeo  

Gear up for a day of biking fun at the Inclusive Bike Rodeo on *Saturday, June 15 from 9-11 a.m. at Gregg-Clarke Park. The Inclusive Bike Rodeo, designed for kids between 4 and 15, is a free event that invites kids of all abilities to join in on the excitement.  

The Inclusive Bike Rodeo, done in partnership with the Ghisallo Cycling Initiative, aims to provide an empowering experience for every child, regardless of intellectual or development disabilities by giving them the opportunity to learn, ride, and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment.  

Ghisallo will provide bikes and helmets for riders, but participants are welcome to bring their own. This event is free to attend, but registration is required to ensure Ghisallo brings the needed amount of bikes and helmets. To sign up, visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle.  

Participants are asked to arrive early to check in and complete the Ghisallo waiver.  

The Inclusive Bike Rodeo is organized by the Therapeutic Recreation (TR) and Inclusion Services and their Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). To Learn more about the City’s Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services, Click Here.  

Kyle Market Days 

Get ready for even more Market Days in 2024 at Mary Kyle Hartson Park on the second Saturday of each month (excluding June) between now and November from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.  

At Market Days, we invite everyone to check out local vendors, including food, drink, arts and crafts, and farm-to-market items while enjoying live music, cultural entertainment, a playground for kids and areas to sit and visit with your friends and neighbors.  

Kyle Market Days often occur in tandem with various community celebrations. The 2024 dates and themes are as follows:  

  • May 11 – Asian American and Pacific Islanders Month Celebration 
  • June 8 – Celebrating Juneteenth 
  • June 29 – Celebrating Pride Month 
  • July 13 – Celebrating the Red, White & Blue 
  • August 10 – Back to School  
  • September 14 – Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month 
  • October 12 – Founders' Parade 
  • November 9 – Veteran's Day Parade

Movies in the Park   

The 22nd year of Movies in the Park will take place monthly between May and September at sundown at Gregg-Clarke Park, 1231 W. Center St.  

Movies in the Park is free to attend and there is no registration needed. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to sit on and to arrive early to guarantee a good seat so the whole family can take in a movie on the big screen under the stars.  

Come for the movie and stay for a chance to take home a prize by simply completing a survey posted at each Movies in the Park. Attendees need only complete the survey and show proof of completion to city staff to be entered into a raffle ticket drawing at the end of the event.  

The 2024 Movie in the Park season kicks off **Friday, May 10 with a showing of Toy Story 4 (G). For a full list of Movies in the Park dates and times, visit CityofKyle.com/Movies

Adult Trivia Night at Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill  

Trivia Night, hosted by the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill, takes place every Monday at 6:30 p.m. until Aug. 5! 

Participation is free and there is no registration required. A maximum of six people are allowed per team, but there is no minimum team requirement. Only those over 21 years of age can play and prizes will be awarded to teams that place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

*The Kyle Inclusive Bike Rodeo was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 3 at 9 a.m.. It was rescheduled to Saturday, June 15 at 9 a.m. due to the weather conditions. 

**The May Movie in the Park was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. It was rescheduled to Friday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. due to conditions on the basketball court and on and off rain.
