Santa Claus is Coming to Town! City of Kyle to Host Santa’s Arrival at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park

KYLE, TEXAS –– For the 24th year in a row, Santa Claus is coming to the City of Kyle to kick off the holiday season at Santa’s Arrival, the annual tree-lighting ceremony downtown at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, 101 S. Burleson St.  

Santa’s Arrival begins at 4 p.m. with the tree-lighting ceremony to follow at sundown, approximately 5:45 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. While waiting for the big event, the community is invited to enjoy holiday music performed by local school choirs and bands. Community members can get a head start on Christmas shopping by checking out the various holiday vendors as well as festive food and drink vendors.  

Free pictures with Santa will be available in the Krug Activity Center. Pictures must be taken with personal cameras or cellular devices, as a professional photographer will not be present. The doors open at 4 p.m. and the line will be cut off at a certain point at 8 p.m. Other photo opportunities with Santa will be available in December during the 25 Days of Christmas and Christmas at Lake Kyle.  

Attendees are also invited to participate in judging the People’s Choice Award for the first-ever Gingerbread House competition hosted by the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department. Gingerbread Houses created by individuals of all ages will be on display starting at 4 p.m. with judging beginning at 5:15 p.m. At 6 p.m. selected judges will determine winners based on age category.  

Several street closures will be in place on Friday, Dec. 1 starting at 8 a.m. and going until 10 p.m. Parking for the event will be available on adjacent streets downtown. The following streets will be affected: 

  • Burleson St. from Center St. to Miller St. 
  • Miller St. from Burleson St. to Main St. 
  • Main St. from Center St. to Miller St. 

Santa’s Arrival is just the beginning of the City of Kyle’s holiday celebrations including the 25 Days of Christmas and Christmas at Lake Kyle.
