2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Proclamation

WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. carries a powerful role in the American Civil Rights movement and continues to impact the growth and development of our nation; and

WHEREAS, Dr. King dedicated his life promoting justice and racial equality; and

WHEREAS, during Dr. King's fight to overcome inequality and injustice he continuously advocated for compassion and nonviolence; and

WHEREAS, Dr. King’s words continue to teach and inspire the world to be accepting of each other and our differences; and

WHEREAS, still yet, in 2023 continuous work is required to overcome inequality and injustice within our society; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kyle’s diverse and growing population provides an opportunity to grow and develop concurrently with Dr. King’s dream of equality and justice.

NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that:

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2023”

lives as a day of remembrance for Dr. King’s life’s work and sacrifices, as we call upon our residents to honor Dr. King by embracing his belief that “True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.”
