2023 National Small Business Month Proclamation

WHEREAS, the month of May, has been designated as National Small Business Month, in recognition of the critical contributions of our community’s small business owners and entrepreneurs; and

WHEREAS, small businesses are the backbone of our local economy and because of this exponential growth our region is experiencing now, we must work to ensure that we create more opportunities for new small businesses to start up and thrive in Kyle; The City of Kyle’s Community Development Team is here to help small businesses navigate the process; and

WHEREAS, small businesses have a significant impact on job growth in Kyle; half of our residents either own or work for a small business and sixty-five cents on the dollar spent on small businesses cycles back into the local economy. A strong presence of small businesses is imperative to our community; and

WHEREAS, our goal is to foster an ecosystem that supports small business owners so that they may live and work in the same community and offer their services to an entire region. In 2022, approximately 40 small businesses opened in Kyle, Texas and countless other entrepreneurs took the leap of faith to open at-home businesses; and

WHEREAS, the City of Kyle takes this opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs and small business owners and recognizes that Small Business Month is a time for us to celebrate the successes of small business and to thank our small business owners for their contributions to our city and to the region. We are along one of the fastest growing corridors in the nation and in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation and we are a prime location for small businesses to grow and thrive. 

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Kyle, does hereby proclaim May 2023, as:

"Small Business Month"

in the City of Kyle and urge all residents of Kyle to support local small businesses throughout the entire year.
