KYLE, TEXAS – The City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department and City Limits Subaru in Buda invite the community to join us for an Earth Day Tree Planting Ceremony and Native Plant Giveaway on Earth Day, Monday, April 22 at 10 a.m. at Heroes Memorial Park, 4301 Benner Rd.

During the ceremony, three Redbud and three Desert Willow trees donated by City Limits Subaru will be planted at Heroes Memorial Park

The tree planting ceremony will complete Kyle’s Heroes Memorial Park, a centerpiece for the city where U.S. military veterans and first responders are honored through an educational, reflective, and celebratory experience. The park is a public gathering place for ceremonies, remembrance events, and educational programs. Its focal point is the Memorial Garden, which features an honor wall and remembrance totem that honors Hays County service members Killed in Action since WWI.

"We are grateful for this generous donation that not only brings life to the trees, but also to our cityscape and our community,” Council Member Lauralee Harris said. “We hope these trees will grow to nurture not just nature, but all those that come to reflect and remember at our Heroes Memorial.”

Following the ceremony, the Kyle Parks and Recreation Department will host a Native Plant Giveaway where city staff will hand out 100 native plants in 4-inch pots on a first come, first serve basis. Light refreshments will be served and registration is not required.

“We feel privileged to be a small part of this wonderful project honoring Hays County heroes,” City Limits Subaru Retailer Principal Julie Herrera said. “We are glad to be a part of this special tree-planting ceremony that improves our environment while also honoring veterans.”

For more than two decades, Subaru and its retailers have been committed to leaving a legacy of protecting and conserving the Earth. Subaru is the largest corporate donor to the National Parks Foundation, helping protect over 400 national parks. To help make parks more sustainable, Subaru partners with the National Parks Conservation Association, and to help the nation’s forests recover from devastating wildfires, Subaru and its retailers support organizations like the National Forest Foundation to replant over one million trees.
