Kick Off Your Christmas in Kyle with An Array of Holiday Events All Month Long

KYLE, TEXAS –– This holiday season, the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is spreading the cheer all over town, hosting several Christmas-related events throughout the City. From holiday lights in two locations all month long to ice skating, free movie showings to a Christmas-themed dance, and a polar plunge to ring in the New Year there’s something for everyone to enjoy.  

25 Days of Christmas: 

Beginning Friday, Dec. 1 and going until Monday, Dec. 25 celebrate the 25 Days of Christmas at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park, 101 S. Burleson St., and enjoy nightly holiday lights, Christmas music, including live music, local vendors and various theme nights. 

The lights at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park will be turned on nightly from 5:30 p.m. - 7 a.m. until Jan. 1. For more information on the 25 Days of Christmas or to apply to be a vendor, visit CityofKyle.com/25Days.  

Christmas at Lake Kyle: 

Celebrate the Holidays on the East side of Kyle with Christmas at Lake Kyle Park, 700 Lehman Rd. This year, Lake Kyle Park will feature a lighted trail and a Texas-style ice skating rink every Sunday through Saturday from 5-9 p.m. starting Saturday, Dec. 2. The light trail will be on from 5:30 – 11 p.m. nightly until Jan. 1.  

Reservations and a fee are required to ice skate for individuals 6 years of age or above. Reservation time slots are for 30-minute increments. To register and learn more visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle.   

Free skate rentals are available, or individuals may bring their own skates. Skate rentals are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Safety gear is not provided but encouraged. Lockers will not be available on-site. For more information, visit cityofkyle.com/recreation/christmas-lake-kyle

Christmas Movie in the Park: 

Get in the holiday spirit with a showing of The Grinch (2018, PG) at Lake Kyle Park on Friday, Dec. 8 at approximately 6 p.m. at the first-ever Christmas Movie in the Park. Bring the whole family, a blanket to stay warm, something to sit on (chairs are allowed), and enjoy the lights, hot cocoa, and a family-friendly movie to celebrate the holidays.  

Be sure to arrive early with a Letter to Santa in hand to be entered in the raffle giveaway from 5-5:45 p.m. Supplies will also be on-site for kids to write a letter to Santa. Christmas Dance for People with Disabilities: 

Join us for a Jingle Bell Rockin’ good time at the Christmas Dance for People with Disabilities on Friday, Dec. 15 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Gemstone Palace, 1101 Bunton Creek Rd. 

This Christmas-themed dance party will feature DJ music, giveaways, snacks, games, free photo opportunities, and lots of holiday fun. Registration is required to attend. Admission is free. To register, visit TeamSideline.com/Kyle

Be sure to register early. Due to occupancy limits, the number of participants will be capped to 300 people. Participants requiring assistance must be accompanied by a parent, caregiver, or any individual providing assistance. Both the participant and individual providing assistance must register and will be counted toward the total capacity number.

Christmas at the Kyle Public Library: 

This December, the Kyle Public Library will host several holiday-themed events including Lovely Letters: A Typewriter Experience on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. where participants will have access to vintage typewriters provided by Austin Typewriters, Ink. Join us and type out a letter to Santa, write a holiday card to a loved one, prepare thank you notes, or jot down a quick poem. 

On Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m. bring the family to Cookies with Santa and enjoy a Christmas storytime, take pictures with Santa and enjoy some cookies.  

On Saturday, December 16 at 1 p.m. the library will host a Teen Nightmare Before Christmas Pajama Party where area teenagers are invited to wear pajamas and watch Nightmare Before Christmas (1993, PG), make Perler bead crafts and have snacks. No registration is required but there must be at least one person aged 12-17 in your party to attend.  

The Kyle Public Library will also host two holiday-themed Silver Screen nights, showing Abominable (2019, PG) on Friday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. and Prancer: A Christmas Tale (2022, PG) on Friday, Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. To see the full Kyle Public Library December Calendar, Click Here.  

Give back this holiday season and participate in the Kyle Public Library’s Soap Sack Donation Drive. From Friday, Dec. 1 to Friday, Dec. 15 they are accepting soap and soap sacks that will be distributed to charities serving our unhoused communities. For more information, Click Here

Polar Bear Splash: 

Take part in the Polar Bear Splash, a City of Kyle tradition, on January 1, 2024 at the James Adkins Pool, 1100 W. Center St., starting at 10 a.m. Registration and a fee are required to participate, but supporters (spectators) are encouraged to attend and cheer on those brave enough to take the dip. Before the big splash, work up a sweat and start of the New Year strong at the For the Love of Go Resolution Run starting at Ash Pavilion inside Gregg-Clarke Park, 1231-1301 W. Center St., on Jan. 1, 2024 starting at 9 a.m.
