KYLE, TEXAS –– The Kyle Police Department and City of Kyle invite the community to join us for the Public Safety Center Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, July 20 from 5-7 p.m. at 1700 Kohler's Crossing.

The 64,000-square-foot, two-story facility was approved by Kyle residents in the November 2020 election through Proposition A to create a new Public Safety Center to serve residents for decades to come.

“We are thrilled to be able to open the doors of the new Public Safety Center to our community and our officers,” said Dr. Jeff Barnett, Kyle Chief of Police. “This new facility enables our department to accomplish so much more and unites our staff together, under one roof, giving us the ability to better serve our community now and in the years to come.”

The Public Safety Center has enough space to fully staff the Kyle Police Department, in a single location, with room to grow as the city’s population grows.  It will also allow the Police Department to expand its services with dedicated space to:

  • Accommodate victims or residents experiencing trauma as a result of crime;
  • Create an investigations suite;
  • Manage evidence processing and storage;
  • Increase officer training and pursue accreditation;
  • Expand community-based programs and mental health services.

The Public Safety Center will also provide the City with an opportunity to create an Emergency Operations Center (EOC). An EOC will establish a central command center and allow for collaboration with surrounding counties and authorities during critical times such as weather-related emergencies, natural disasters, community-wide security threats, major traffic accidents and more.

Finally, with room for the Police Department to grow over the next 20 years and beyond, the Public Safety Center will also provide immediate, temporary space for ancillary public safety functions, including Communications, Information Technology and City administration, until the Police Department requires the full building.

During the ribbon cutting, remarks will be given by Mayor Pro Tem Michael Tobias, Mayor Travis Mitchell and Police Chief Jeff Barnett. The Ribbon Cutting will also feature a flag-raising ceremony by the Kyle Police Department Honor Guard, the singing of the National Anthem, a prayer from Police Chaplain Paul Valdez and a moment of silence for our fallen officers.

City of Kyle residents are welcome to join us for refreshments, food and tours of the newly completed Public Safety Center.
